The team competes in the Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League (LCAHL) out of Detroit, Michigan with most games played throughout the Michigan region.  The team will also play additional games, tournaments and exhibition games outside of the league.

 

Our goal is to have players improve their individual skill level while having fun.  Players will focus on refining their skating and hand skills in an up tempo high intensity enviroment.  We evaluate our success not in wins and losses but by noticeable and marked improvement in their ability to play at both ends of the ice; becoming a more complete and effective hockey player.  Coachability, team play, and on/off ice player conduct are requirements of a player on this team!

 

 

 

The unspoken fact in hockey is that players' skating is what prevents them from taking their game to the next level.  We focus on drills and reinforce proper skating and footwork improving skating and hand skills of the game.

 

The practice plan is designed for fundamental skill development.  Specific drills requiring mulitple skill sets are run for longer periods of time (15 to 20 minutes).  The coach(s) will give instruction and will stop a drill for further demonstration until satisfied with progress; the goal is effective drills versus completing them.  We empasize reptition toward progress.  There is typically a variety of skill stations during practice.  Practices are designed to meet or exceed game speed and conditions.  We plan these practices to be very intense as the players get very little down time and are always moving.

 

We typically have 15 - 20 minutes dedicated on specific skating skills and techniques; this is not directed at conditioning but high speed skating with emphasis on speed, lateral movement, skating direction, explosive and power skating designed to make players stronger on their skates!  We intend to have guest instructors once each month.
